Bramblings are small, migratory finches that breed in northern Eurasia and winter in Europe and Asia. They have a distinctive orange breast and white belly, with a black head and white wing bars in males, and a more subdued brown and buff coloration in females. Bramblings feed on a variety of seeds and insects and are known for their large flocks during migration and winter, sometimes numbering in million.
This is the third time that such huge flock was observed in Slovenia. This time they chose a small village of Bočna near Gornji Grad as their roost site.
This is a short cinematic video of their evening ritual when they return from feeding in beechwood forest for an overnight.
