Following the Pierre Lambert – Snow White book flip-through, here is Pinocchio from the English Hyperion edition (1997).
This time, instead of a full review, I read through the introduction — and I have to apologize, it’s not really a narration but something in between a read-through and a slightly clumsy commentary. I hope it doesn’t irritate you! Some of you asked for more spoken sections, and although I didn’t add full commentary here, going through the book and mentioning the artists would probably have been a better idea — something to improve next time.
So let’s step inside together one of the most beautiful Disney art books ever created — Pierre Lambert’s Pinocchio, the 1997 Hyperion / Disney Editions release. This video takes you page by page through the English-language edition.
First published in France in 1995 by Démons & Merveilles, Pinocchio was later issued in English by Hyperion in 1997 — a large square folio celebrating the artistry behind Walt Disney’s 1940 classic. Years later, it returned to France in a smaller Huginn & Muninn reprint and an extraordinary limited collector’s edition by Les Éditions Granovsky — a massive 17.5-inch volume limited to 750 copies, retailing around €400–$500.
Here, we revisit the Hyperion edition — its luminous artwork, sketches, and production stills — filmed in 4K Cinemascope for a cinematic art experience.
