The Surprising Truth About China's Liulichang Culture Street Nobody Tells You

The 2025 Spring Festival is coming, and we came to Liulichang Pedestrian Street to see if we can find the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. 2025 is the Year of the Snake in the lunar calendar.
Liulichang (means Glazed Factory), also known as Changdian, was the official kiln for firing glazed tiles in the Yuan Dynasty. It became a gathering place for literati and scholars in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In addition to Liulichang, we will also go to the hutongs in the Dashilan community, which was the famous "Eight Great Hutongs" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, that is, brothels, including male brothels. At the same time, it is also the "birthplace" of Peking Opera after the Huiban entered Beijing. The former residences of many Peking Opera celebrities are in these densely packed hutongs.
