First time I heard of it, I was told they were the same u-joints that the 70's dodge cars used. So I took apart a volvo u-joint and match one up with a u-joint for a 1975 Dodge Dart. They were the same and they only cost 7.99 at the time. I never had a problem using automotive u-joints in the volvo upper gear boxes.
