Detailing proper milking procedures from the University of Missouri Extension. Taken at Foremost Dairy Center
Summary:
Get the cows from the pen in a relaxed fashion, and let them travel at their own pace to the parlor.
Once in the parlor, iodine spray, strip, wipe, attach units, and then dip once the units are off.
After milking, you may check how accurate an automatic takeoff system is. To do this, check how much milk is left in the cow's quarters after she is milked out. If the system is correct, you should get about 8 ounces of milk.
