Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio Behind The Scenes Magic

There was plenty that went into building the world of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio! This Netflix movie brought together an impressive team of dedicated creatives, including a great cast filled with familiar names. Ewan McGregor has previously proven his skill as an unforgettable member of the Star Wars universe, whereas here, he provides the voice for Sebastian J. Cricket. This remake changes the name for the Cricket, who is known as Jiminy Cricket in both the Disney live action and animated movies. Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame provides the voice for Candlewick. Cate Blanchett has made appearances in several Lord of the Rings films, before going on to provide the voice for Spazzatura in Guillermo del Toro’s movie. Tilda Swinton has proven herself in a number of roles, including playing The Ancient One in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, she voices both the Wood Sprite and Death, the former of whom in another character who has been completely reimagined since The Walt Disney Company’s classic version. David Bradley may be best recognized for his work with the Harry Potter franchise playing Argus Filch, but here he provides the voice for Geppetto. Merely looking at his body of work alongside that of Disney’s casting choice for the same role, Tom Hanks, will tell you everything you need to know about how different of an approach Guillermo del Toro wanted to take with this remake. Christoph Waltz has previously worked with prolific directors such as Quentin Tarantino, before moving onto the role of Count Volpe in this film.
