Donna Summer Tribute Minimix - MacArthur Park|On the Radio|Last Dance

A tribute minimix dedicated to the one and only Donna Summer!! Donna Summer was born as LaDonna Adrian Gaines on December 31st 1948 to Mary and Andrew Gaines. Donna Summer rose to fame in 1975 after releasing her first international hit, “Love to Love You Baby”. After her major success with that song, she released a string of hits including, I Feel Love, Bad Girls, Hot Stuff, Dim All The Lights, MacArthur Park, Last Dance, I Love You and On the Radio. Donna would continue to release new albums and music through the 80s and 90s. Her last studio album, “Crayons” was released in 2008, 4 years before her untimely death. On May 17th, 2012 Donna passed away from lung cancer surrounded by her 3 Children, Mimi, Brooklyn and Amanda and her husband Bruce Sudano. She had a very strong Christian faith, and that also helped with her battle with lung cancer. Donna was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 2013, a year after her death and in 2018 Donna’s life was made into a Broadway musical. Although she was well known to many as The Queen of Disco, she was much more then disco. She could sing anything and make it sound amazing! Donna’s music and legacy still live on today. She paved the way for other female singers like Selena, Madonna, and Beyoncé. Today we celebrate Donna Summer as an artist and human being on the 10th anniversary of her death. I dedicate this minimix to Donna to honor her legacy. I choose these 3 songs because they really helped me get through a difficult time in my life.
