Gel Nails vs Acrylic Nails which is right for you?

Neither Gel or Acrylic is ‘better’ than the other they're just different in how they’re applied and a few other small things! 💅 I chose to specialize in gel for the following reasons:

1. Smell:
I think we all know that iconic smell when you walk in to a nail salon?  That’s acrylic monomer, which has a strong odor to it. Gel on the other hand, is odorless.  This makes it a really nice choice for at home nail techs who don't want a strong smell throughout their house, or people with sensitivities! There are "odourless" acrylics out there too now though, although I'm not sure if any are completely odourless 🙊

2. Feel:
I've noticed a lot of people have been gearing towards gel nails more because they feel so natural compared to acrylic, but that really depends on the nail tech! If the nail tech is doing a good job then the acrylic nails should feel fairly natural, especially if they’re using a sculpted technique rather than gluing tips on and then applying product.

3. Product Variability:
Having been a nail tech for over 10 years, and an educator for over 5, watched the gel nail industry grow and evolve more than acrylic has!  Gel brands carry hard gels, soft gels, builder gels, gel polishes, art gels, and more!  The product options for natural nail services are vast, and with natural nail services growing in popularity, I am happy to already be using a gel system 💗
