While recovering from an illness, I noticed how many popular “Christian” voices sound spiritual yet drift from Scripture, which led me to begin a series called Be Like Jesus, rooted in God’s Word alone. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins by redefining blessing as God’s approval, not worldly success, and declares that true blessing belongs to those who are “poor in spirit.” This spiritual poverty means recognizing our complete dependence on God for salvation, which opens the door to the Kingdom of Heaven through faith in Jesus alone.
