If you’re buying your first home, the Govt. can help you save up to ₹2.67 lakh in interest! Here’s how the process works 👇
Step 1 – Check if you’re eligible
✔ You must be a first-time home buyer (no house in your or your spouse’s name)
✔ Your household income should fit into one of the PMAY categories – EWS, LIG, MIG-I, or MIG-II
✔ The property must be within the carpet area limits set for your category
Step 2 – Apply for a Home Loan under PMAY
Visit any bank, housing finance company, or NBFC that’s registered under PMAY-U 2.0.
Tell them clearly that you want your loan under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS).
Step 3 – Lender verifies your eligibility
Your lender will collect your documents – Aadhaar, PAN, income proof, property details – and check your PMAY eligibility.
Step 4 – Lender uploads your details to Govt. portal
Once verified, your lender will submit your application on the CLSS Awas Portal (run by the Govt.).
Step 5 – Govt. reviews & approves
If your application matches all criteria, the subsidy amount is sanctioned.
Step 6 – Subsidy is credited directly to your loan account
The amount goes straight to your bank/NBFC. It is adjusted against your principal, which reduces your EMI for the remaining tenure.
