Hong Kong is home to over 600 temples, beloved by local devotees and serving as important cultural landmarks. Here are four popular temples:
Wong Tai Sin Temple is famous for its effective fortune-telling. Che Kung Ancient Temple attracts a large number of worshippers on the second day of the Lunar New Year. Many people turn the windmill to pray for good fortune.
Hung Hom Kwun Yum Temple is renowned for its Kwun Yum borrowing ceremony, held on the 26th day of the first lunar month. To borrow from Kwun Yum, devotees must continuously borrow and return for at least three years. Yuen Yuen Institute, located in Tsuen Wan, is known for its Yuan Chen Hall. Many who are affected by the Tai Sui (the Grand Duke Jupiter) make a special trip here to pay their respects. Devotees can pray for blessings based on their birth year.
