MYTH! 🤯
Here’s why carbs don't make you gain weight:
🔹 Energy Source:
Carbohydrates are the body's primary source of energy. They fuel your brain, muscles, and other vital organs.
🔹 Calorie Balance:
Weight gain occurs when you consume more calories than you burn. This can come from any macronutrient, not just carbs. The key is maintaining a calorie balance.
🔹 Not all carbs are created equal:
Simple carbs (like sugary snacks) can spike blood sugar levels and may lead to overeating which can lead to weight gain.
Complex carbs (like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables) provide sustained energy, keep you full longer and reduce cravings. Besides this complex carbs come with essential nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals that support overall health and can help with weight management.
🔹 What to do instead:
Focus on more of a balanced variety of foods, including healthy (complex) carbs, fats, and (lean) proteins as they help maintain a healthy weight.
Remember, it’s about the quality of your diet and overall calorie intake, not just one macronutrient. 🥗🏃♂️
