FAO works to raise awareness about home-grown school feeding and the economic inclusion of farmers, which serves as a social protection mechanism.
In 2023, the Organization benefited nearly 2 500 students under the national “Merenda Escolar” programme by connecting local farmers to a stable market through the supply of locally produced food to schools.
This initiative fostered community cohesion empowered women, and ensured that children were well-nourished, contributing to a healthier and more educated community.
