To the right of the main shrine, a path lined with the wishes of visitors written on wooden boards leads to a smaller shrine at the island's geographic centre. Next to it are twin palm trees called meoto biro (female and male). Would-be lovers can purchase brightly coloured strings (¥100) to tie to ropes between the trees as an offering.

Seashells, washed ashore by the surrounding ocean currents, hold symbolic importance as offerings at Aoshima Shrine. They are believed to represent the bounty of the sea and are often presented by visitors as tokens of gratitude, wishes for prosperity, or prayers for safe voyages. These shells, collected and arranged within the shrine grounds, create a visual tapestry that honors the connection between humanity and the natural world.

A hiraka is a type of unglazed clay plate that has been used for religious purposes in Japan since the Yayoi period (300 BCE–300 CE) e, Visitors can try to uncover their fortune by throwing a hiraka made from local clay toward the sacred site beyond the fence by the shrine. Before tossing your plate, bow twice in the direction of the target and think of something to wish for. It is said that your wish will come true if the hiraka lands within the sacred spot, while having the dish break upon landing should result in good luck and protection against evi

The Devil's Washboard rock formations, known as "Oni no Sentakuita" in Japanese, are a natural wonder located along the coastline of Aoshima Island in Miyazaki, Japan.
