Jean-Michel Veillon, a native of Fréhel and now residing in Trégor, has been a central figure in the Breton music scene since he first picked up the bombarde at age eleven. Over the years, he transitioned to the wooden flute, drawing inspiration from the Breton and Gaelic traditions. His unique style, a blend of traditional phrasing and global flute techniques, is celebrated across Brittany and Ireland.

This video, recorded in January 2024, features a collaboration with jazz flautist Jean-Mathias Petri. The piece performed, 'Feunteun Wenn' (the White Fountain), is a composition by the late, great Breton harpist Kristen Nogues. Jean-Mathias Petri, playing the octo-bass flute (or contrabass flute), joins Jean-Michel in this evocative rendition.
