Program Overview
It is an unfortunate reality that many diabetes patients frequently progress to the development of diabetes complications. Diabetes patients often die because of diabetes complications, and not merely abnormal blood glucose levels. Consequently, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death among diabetes patients. Specifically, people with diabetes have 2 to 4 times higher risk for stroke than non-diabetes people. Other common diabetes complications include: neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, and dental disease. Thus, the optimal management of these common diabetes complications is high of necessity in order to decrease morbidity and mortality.
