(Webinar) The study of our First Amendment constitutional rights can be educational and interesting. Knowing these important laws can help students protect and appreciate their fundamental rights. Because laws are open to different interpretations and applications, each person’s perspective enhances understanding; healthy discussion and debate are key.
• Understand the development of First Amendment rights
in American history
• Appreciate protections and limitations regarding speech
and the press
• Be able to argue concerning rights of petition and
assembly
• Know how to legally exercise freedom of religion
• Realize that First Amendment law changes and is
challenged by new realities and technologies
• Apply constitutional, case, and statutory law to the First
Amendment-related situations
• Establish a foundation for classroom debate to assist
students in appreciating their rights
We will experience interactive learning opportunities through lecture, examples, a PowerPoint, and a question/answer session.
