This video shows the basic checking of a single speed wiper motor and mechanism in a Classic Mini, assuming there is no other electrical failure in the car.
Naturally, in such an old car wiper speed will be a bit higher on a wet windshield. I have also noticed that even a fully charged battery or a running engine makes blades run a bit faster.
I was at the point where my wiper blades got stuck in all conditions so refurbishment was mandatory.
