Cielo Magno to DPWH: 'Wag masyadong gahaman' | DZMM TeleRadyo

Prof. Cielo Magno from the UP School of Economics talks about the current deadlock in the bicam budget hearings after DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon sought a higher budget.

In the interview, Magno backed the Senate’s decision to rationalize the DPWH budget after some infra projects turned out to be overpriced.

Giving the DPWH more funds means that there will be cuts in the budgets of other departments, she said.

She also asked Dizon if he personally checked the pricing of the DPWH's projects or if he only put his trust in DPWH's district engineers.

“Nahimay ba niya lahat ng proyekto na ‘yan? Talaga bang nagtitiwala tayo sa mga district engineers sa pricing na ginawa nila na ‘yan? Eh kung inaamin na nga mismo ng DPWH na overpriced ang mga proyekto ng 20 percent, I think it’s reasonable to cut the projects by 10 percent.”
