Over 20 nationalities, 60 artists, and one city that brought them together: ISTANBUL.

This project is a gift to every refugee musician across the world. We live with the same feelings, united by the power of music and shared experiences.

“Longa Samai” is not just a piece of music, it is a meeting of cultures, blending of "Longa" music style and "Samai Saqeel" 10/8 rhythm to tell stories of struggle, survival, and hope. The video features moments with the musicians who brought this piece to life, intertwined with glimpses of many other artists who have been part of the Refugee Guitars Orchestra - a project born from shared dreams and the power of art to connect and heal.

Refugee Guitars Orchestra, envisioned and directed by Omar Alkilani, serves as a vibrant project where a diverse group of refugee musicians come together to create a fusion of traditional and modern music. Each project becomes a dynamic collaboration, with different refugee musicians participating. Since its inception in 2019 this artistic initiative has already produced an E.P that showcase the blending of different cultures from all, over the world. Looking ahead the project aims to transform these creations into events and music videos envisioning a journey that celebrates the universal language of music, A journey through sound, stories, and the soul of a city became both a home and a challenge! #istanbul
