Bryan Cranston Gives Fiery Speech During SAG Strike in NYC

Actor Bryan Cranston gave an impassioned speech in part directed at Disney CEO Bob Iger during a strike event in New York, New York, on Tuesday, July 25.

Speaking to a crowd assembled in Times Square, Cranston said: “I find it very ironic that we are all gathered here today in unity in front of an entity that is run by Disney. And we’ve got a message for Mr Iger: I know, sir, that you look at things through a different lens. We don’t expect you to understand who we are, but we ask you to hear us, and beyond that, to listen to us when we tell you we will not be having our jobs taken away and given to robots. We will not have you take away our right to work and earn a decent living. And lastly, and most importantly, we will not allow you to take away our dignity.”

Cranston was introduced by fellow actor Steve Buscemi, who spoke of solidarity between unions. Of the demands of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), Buscemi said they were “not unusual or unreasonable things to ask for. They are in fact essential.”
