After spending four unexpected days in Sost due to an injury and health issues, we finally resumed our journey — this time heading back with one mission: to explore the stunning Borith Lake and the mighty White Glacier, also known as the Passu Glacier.
Just a short drive from Hussaini Suspension Bridge, a narrow but well-paved road took us towards Borith Lake, located at an altitude of approximately 2,600 meters (8,530 ft) above sea level. The area felt almost deserted — not because it’s unpopular, but because the entire village was gathered at the first-ever Hussaini Marathon Race! This unique moment gave us a rare chance to experience the peaceful silence of Borith Lake, with no crowds — just the wind, water, and mountains.
From Borith, we set our sights on the White Glacier. This is one of the fastest-melting glaciers in the world, and seeing it up close was unforgettable. After buying an entry ticket (a small fee that helps maintain the area), we started our 30-minute hike. It’s a moderate trail but can be a little steep in parts, so sturdy hiking shoes and plenty of water are highly recommended.
The reward? A breathtaking viewpoint where you stand face to face with the giant glacier. Surrounded by ice cliffs, crevasses, and raw natural energy, you can literally hear the glacier cracking — a reminder of how fast it’s changing due to climate impact.
This journey wasn’t just about the destination, but about recovery, resilience, and reconnecting with nature’s raw beauty.
