PRIME MINISTER BRIEFS HEAD OF STATE ON RAEOA RESTRUCTURING AND MARITIME BOUNDARY NEGOTIATIONS

The President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta, met today with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão to receive updates on key government initiatives. During the meeting, the Head of Government highlighted the success of the Proclamation of Independence Day celebrations and announced significant structural changes for the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA).

According to the Prime Minister, a new Decree-Law is being prepared that will replace the current single-authority model with a representative council, aiming to strengthen oversight, transparency, and development in the region. Xanana Gusmão also confirmed that the Government has formally approved the 13th-month salary payment for State employees.
