FISERV (formerly First Data) Fraud & Unethical Business Practices

I am a small business owner who recently uncovered over $1,000 in unauthorized refunds processed through my Fiserv merchant account. These fraudulent refunds were issued to credit cards that had never transacted with our business and occurred intermittently (approximately every other week) in discreet amounts ranging from $95 to $195. Because the charges were embedded within our daily credit card batches (e.g., $5,000 in sales minus fees and refunds), they were not immediately apparent.
What’s particularly alarming is that these refunds were processed remotely, outside of our Clover POS system. I only discovered the issue while closing our STAX account for unrelated reasons. Upon reviewing our online account activity, I saw the series of unauthorized refunds. Although STAX’s support team attempted to assist, they ultimately informed me that they had no visibility into the processing backend, as all transactions are handled directly by Fiserv (formerly First Data).

If you're also a client of Fiserv, you may have encountered their notorious lack of customer service. Their system of routing customers through endless transfers and departments seems designed to wear you down rather than resolve your issue. This is not surprising for a corporation that generated over $20 billion in annual revenue and is no stranger to class action litigation.
