Too Fast, Too Wild! Classic TT 2 Strokes Red Flagged 🚩

On 25/08/25 at 17:30, the Lightweight Classic TT tore through The Railway Inn, Union Mills — a blur of two-stroke nostalgia and pure speed. Legends of the road like Mike Browne (#3), Ian Lougher (#4), Stuart Hall (#5), Michael Dunlop (#6), Rhys Hardisty (#8), Dan Sayle (#9), Chris Moore (#10), Nathan Harrison (#11), and Craig Neve (#12) blasted past, joined by other brave riders pushing their machines to the absolute limit.

The race began in dry and bright conditions, though breezy over the west of the Island and the Mountain section. By Glen Helen on lap one, Dunlop led — but only by 0.341 seconds over Browne, with Lougher 1.6 seconds further back in third. At Ballaugh Bridge, Browne had taken control, stretching the gap to 3.5 seconds over Dunlop while Lougher held third. Sayle had climbed to fourth, but moments later the red flags came out.

Incidents at Glen Helen (Andy Whale, #26) and Ballagarey (Dan Hanby, #44) brought the opening lap to a premature end. Whale was airlifted to Nobles Hospital conscious and talking, while Hanby was reported OK but also taken to hospital by ambulance for further checks. With daylight fading and preparation time too short, officials confirmed the race would not restart that evening. A revised schedule was promised later in the week, a stark reminder of the risks every rider accepts on the Mountain Course.
