The Weald Stone: Part of London is named after this lump of rock, in front of a pub

A slightly different kind of video, although I promise there is a pub or two (by some tenuous definition of "pub") along the way. This one is a bit more about local history in the Harrow area, in North West London.

I went to visit the Weald Stone, which contributes to the name "Harrow and Wealdstone". It's a possibly ancient sarsen stone, maybe once a standing stone, which now sits in front of an Indian restaurant, which was formerly a pub called the Red Lion.

While in the area I also took a wander up to Harrow Weald Common, to visit the Hare (just about still a pub, although it has gone very gastro), the Case is Altered (sadly closed due to parking issues) and then, as though the video wasn't already going off topic enough, I end with a pint in the beautiful gardens of the Grim's Dyke Hotel, the one time home of Sir William Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame.
