"Nobody ever thought Emmeline Pankhurst would make a difference..."
Vox Pop is a documentary serial concerning the private lives and public thoughts of some of the people of Darwen, Lancashire. Rich or poor, young or old, left wing or right wing, employed or unemplyed, the people of Darwen, like people everywhere, have a view on domestic issues and national events.
This edition sees the Darreners preoccupied with the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, whose anti nuclear weapon stance has been in the news. What do the people of Darwen think about nuclear weapons? Should Britain have nulcear arms? Are the women right to protest? Will it make a difference?
Clip taken from Vox Pop, originally broadcast on Vox Pop, 8 February, 1983.
