It had been 3 years and 6 months since the only main line registered Class 52 took to the rails on a railtour (minus the test run a few weeks back!). It's been an engine that, rather unfortunately, has avoided me... Until now!
The Western Wessexman on the 7th September would be hauled by 67019 from Leicester to Bescot yard, where the 50 year old Hydraulic took over for a run down to Weymouth via Cheltenham, Bristol Parkway, Bath and Castle Cary, with the return up the SWML to Basingtoke, Oxford and finally up to Leicester behind 67019 again from Bescot.
D1015 was caught storming through Freshford in the morning, with it's two tone horn echoing around the Limpley Stoke valley. The return is at our old favourite, Shawford, with the Western romping away from a signal check.
