On November 26, 2025, Finance Minister Sheku Armed Fantamadi Bangura presented the 2026 Finance Act for ratification in Parliament. The proposed act includes additional taxes on cement, fuel, tobacco, and cigarettes to boost government revenue.
However, opposition Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Karbo has raised concerns about the possible impact of the new taxes on ordinary citizens, urging the government to focus on generating revenue from the country’s natural resources instead.
