In this TEDx Talk, Chloe Laws examines the term misandry and its new-found popularity, unpicking why misandry being levelled with misogyny is a false and dangerous whataboutism: “When we look at all the evidence, the truth is that women do not hate men the way men hate women. Misandry is not the same as misogyny because the oppressed cannot oppress the oppressor. Women do not have the social standing or power for misandry to be a threat. At worst, misandry hurts some feelings. Misogyny, on the other hand, kills women daily.” Chloe Laws is a journalist, poet and gender-equality campaigner, she has written about misogyny and male violence against women and girls for publications like GLAMOUR, Grazia, Marie-Claire, Cosmopolitan, Dazed and many more. Chloe's thought-provoking articles and essays have earned her a reputation as a leading voice in contemporary feminist discourse. Her ability to blend personal experience with broader social commentary makes her work both relatable and deeply influential. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
