In this video I explore a handful of abandoned places in Upper Michigan, each with its own story. We start off at an old Cold War base where the apartment complex is gutted and empty. It might not be the most exciting spot, but it’s still a piece of forgotten history worth seeing. Just down the road, we check out an abandoned Cold War hospital, the kind of place that really makes you think about what it used to be. After that, I peek through the windows of an abandoned factory that was sealed up tight. Even without getting inside, it gave off some eerie vibes.
Next up is an abandoned mine building with a dark past. This place was shut down shortly after a cave-in that permanently entombed 150 miners. Standing there, it’s impossible not to think about the weight of that history. To close things out, I hike up Sugar Loaf Mountain in Marquette, Michigan, where the view of Lake Superior is unreal; the perfect way to end a day of exploring.
If you’re into urbex, abandoned buildings, Cold War relics, or just hidden history in Michigan, you’re going to enjoy this one.
