Fix a cheap test lead

On my recent Grandad's Postbag video which included some replacement Meter test leads deslomeslager commented that I should have repaired the old ones so I did :)

I know that this is an old video but I have just jumped through the same hoops today.
To effect a repair:-
push the "disconnected" probe down the "barrel" (as shown on this video).
Push the probe of the other lead INTO where the other probe was pushed out from, i.e. into the smallest end of the "barrel" (pictures really would help here I think"). When pulled out again a retaining collar comes with it!
re-solder the "disconnected" probe, push it all the way back into and then right through its "barrel".
Push the collar back on the re-soldered probe leaving the same length of probe showing as on the other lead and push it back into place - et voile!
I think it safe to assume that not all cheapo Chinese test leads are constructed in the same way, but this worked for me. BTW this is not a dig at Chinese products, my "Chonda" rotovator has been chugging away for a few years now B-)
In an attempt to minimise the risk of the break re-occuring i have used a cable tie to trap the lead against the side of barrel to act a a mechanical strain relief. Only time will tell if that "good idea" works B-)
