On September 5, a crowd at Srinagar's Hazratbal Dargah vandalized a plaque bearing India's national emblem, the Ashoka Pillar, sparking controversy. The plaque was installed during the Dargah’s renovation, inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi on September 4. Local and religious leaders opposed the emblem, citing Islamic principles against idol worship, leading to a nationwide political uproar over the desecration of a national symbol. Watch full video.
