C64 Darkness longplay

Longplay of this neat modern-day arcade adventure. The game sees you exploring a jungle and it's surroundings, searching for your girlfriend who went missing following a plane crash. To help you on your quest there are power-ups (found hidden under bushes) and keys (found in treasure chests) that unlock certain gates. The goal of the game is to collect 8 masks, which (once placed in the correct spots) will open the way to the temple where your girlfriend is held captive by a demon.

Dealing with the enemies isn't so difficult, but navigating through the 100 screens is. A map is essential here, or you'll be going around in circles. The final battle with the demon is a bit on the tricky side, so make sure you get a better weapon and collect an extra heart or two.

On the cosmetics side, the game is okay. The graphics are pretty good in places, but unremarkable in others (like in the caves). The gameplay is where the game shines. Taking it's cues from classics such as Sabre Wulf and Shamus, it's far more humane when it comes to the dexterity required, and thus more enjoyable.
