'Krav Maga' just means 'contact combat' in Hebrew, which is as about broad as just calling something 'fighting'. It means that pretty much anything can be called Krav Maga. The term became associated with effective self defence in the 00's and remains one of Google's top recommendations for 'what is an effective martial art for self defence', meaning that that an awful lot of crap just uses the name to leverage keyword searches in its locality. In this video I explain what I think is the first hallmark of 'good' Krav Maga: that the attacker should behaving realistically, and reminisce about my time training with a dear friend who did that for me, sometimes rather too well for my liking!
