오늘 연주로 소개해드리는 곡은 스코틀랜드 전통 민요 “The Water Is Wide” 입니다.
17세기부터 “O Waly, Waly”라는 이름으로 불리며 전해 내려온 이 노래는, 단순하고 서정적인 선율 속에 이루기 어려운 사랑과 그리움을 담고 있습니다.
오랜 세월 동안 수많은 이들의 사랑을 받아온 이 곡은, 일본 드라마 〈Summer Snow〉의 메인 테마로도 재탄생해 새로운 감동을 전해주었지요.
저도 예전에 “Summer Snow” 버전을 연주한 적이 있는데, 이번에는 원곡인 “The Water Is Wide” 의 노랫말을 담아 들려드립니다. 🎶

Today’s performance is the Scottish traditional folk song “The Water Is Wide.”
Known since the 17th century as “O Waly, Waly,” this song carries a simple yet lyrical melody that tells of love and longing that cannot easily be fulfilled.
Cherished for generations and reinterpreted by countless artists, this beautiful tune was also reborn as the main theme of the Japanese drama “Summer Snow.”
I once shared my own performance of the “Summer Snow” version, but this time I am delighted to present “The Water Is Wide” with its original lyrics. 🎶
