Lunch & Learn: Financial Literacy and End of Year Planning

Our presenter, Morgan Phillips, is the Business Coach behind New Heights Consulting, a Riner-based consulting firm that focuses on process improvement and operations management. Morgan has experience in many industries including manufacturing, education, and other blue collar services(Construction, Landscaping, etc). Morgan loves to put her boots on and go out to the businesses that she helps to learn their business alongside them, with a unique and non-judgemental approach.

During this session, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of their business finances, including key concepts such as income, expenses, profit, loss, and margins. The discussion will also cover pricing strategies—reviewing different structures and exploring various approaches to setting prices effectively. Additionally, participants will work through essential end-of-year activities with a detailed checklist designed to help them evaluate spending habits and prepare for the year ahead. The session will include a hands-on exercise to create a mock budget based on actual spending patterns, highlighting areas where costs can be reduced and where additional investment may be beneficial—such as shifting funds from excess office supplies to much-needed marketing efforts.
