Although our 123s have wonderful vacuum locking, use of a remote simplifies entry, without the need for a key (which may no longer fit or has been swapped). This is how I fit remote locking to my wagen restoration with the help of MMWA (see his channel for in-depth 124 and 210 focused content). It requires two units, an actuator and a central remote unit which can be bought for about $20 each. There is actually not much to this, and it was about 1-2 hours work. Disconnect the battery whenever playing with electrics! There also isn't actually too much wiring to do 1)remote unit to fuse block for continuous power, 2)remote unit earth, 3)remote unit control to slave actuator in the front drivers door. A tip is to find the remote unit with the simplest and smallest controller (the one I got has quite large remotes).
