This rare tune comes from the playing of blind fiddler James W. Day (1861 - 1943) of Rowan County, Kentucky.
Tuning is G# D# G# D# (AEAE relative, though James Day played this in ADAE)
"Blind Bill Day" was a singer and fiddler who was the subject for "The Singing Fiddler of Lost Hope Hollow" by Jean Thomas. Day is the composer of a once popular local ballad, "The Rowan County Troubles," he also made commercial 78s (78 rpm recordings) in the 1920s for the Victor Recording Company and also for the Library of Congress in the 1930s. During his music career, He traveled and performed in New York and England.
