Romualdez, Escudero knew about insertions - Erice | ANC

Caloocan 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice does not believe that ex-Speaker Martin Romualdez and ex-Senate President Chiz Escudero did not know about the trillions of pesos in insertions and diversions in the national budget for the last 3 years.
“Would you believe one of the most powerful men in Philippine politics does not know that trillions of pesos were diverted and inserted in the 3 years of the 19th Congress? Hindi naman nangyayari ito. This is unprecedented,” he said in a Headstart interview.
“Hindi pwedeng di alam ni Speaker [Martin] Romualdez at Senate President Chiz Escudero.”
On the other hand, Erice said he cannot say that the ICI is shielding Romualdez and Escudero from prosecution, saying the body is only relying on the documents and testimonies they have received.
“They cannot force contractors and private individuals to testify like the Discayas,” he said.
He also noted the ICI cannot truly be independent because it is a creation of the Executive branch.
