Train trip report | Kyiv — Ivano-Frankivsk | Ukrainian railways

The easiest way to get from Kyiv to Ivano-Frankivsk is by night train. One of them is Stefaniya Express from Cherkasy.
But this is only theoretically simple, in reality it is not so easy to buy tickets, especially before Christmas. And the final stops of most trains are in the Carpathians, tickets to Ivano-Frankivsk are not sold, only to Yaremche, Vorokhta, etc.
So this time I had to monitor the Ukrzaliznytsia app for several days, and was lucky to catch a deluxe ticket, but from the previous station Korosten.
I saw that my neighbor in the compartment was getting off in Lviv, so I decided to film this journey by night train. In the morning I doubted whether it was worth filming such a "gray" video at all — the weather outside and dirty windows made the picture quite depressing. I hope that someday I will be able to make another video from this route, sunny and green.
In general, Ukrzaliznytsia now looks very sad — from the inability to fulfill its financial obligations to the technical condition of the rolling stock. Daily enemy shelling destroys depots and junction stations. Tired staff with salaries of 12-13 thousand UAH are trying to hold on, but the further, the harder it is. And the management entertains the electorate with populist promises like “3000 km from Zelensky”.
I am grateful to the steel railway workers for their resilience in this difficult time.

Найпростіший спосіб добратися з Києва у Івано-Франківськ — нічний потяг. Один із них — це Стефанія Експрес з Черкас.
Але це лише теоретично просто, насправді не так легко придбати квитки, особливо перед Різдвом. Та й кінцеві зупинки більшості потягів у Карпатах, квитки до Івано-Франківська не продаються, лише до Яремче, Ворохти і т.д.
Ось і цього разу довелося кілька днів моніторити додаток Укрзалізниці, і пощастило спіймати квиток СВ, причому з попередньої станції Коростень.
Побачив, що мій сусід по купе виходить у Львові, тому вирішив зняти на відео цю подорож нічним потягом. Зранку засумнівався, чи варто взагалі знімати таке "сіре" відео — погода за вікном та брудні вікна робили картинку досить депресивною. Сподіваюся, колись вдасться зробити ще одне відео з цього маршруту, сонячне й зелене.
Загалом Укрзалізниця зараз виглядає дуже сумно — від неспроможності виконувати свої фінансові зобов’язання до технічного стану рухомого складу. Щоденні ворожі обстріли руйнують депо та вузлові станції. Втомлений персонал із зарплатами 12-13 тис. грн намагається триматися, але чим далі, тим важче. А керівництво розважає електорат популістичними обіцянками типу “3000 км від Зеленського”.
