If I asked you to recall the content of lecture notes you read one month ago, would you be able to recall more than 10% of those notes? The likelihood is low.
In 1885, a German psychologist, Hermann Ebbinghaus, conducted a series of experiments on himself to objectively show that humans start to lose learned knowledge over time. This led to the creation of the forgetting curve; Ebbinghaus found that after a few days he lost 40% of his newly acquired knowledge. After a month, he had lost 90% of the knowledge he acquired for the experiment.
