Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018) criminalizes the act of accepting or attempting to obtain undue advantage to influence a public servant to act improperly or dishonestly in their official duties.
🧾 When is Section 7A applicable?
✅ When someone accepts or seeks a benefit for:
▪️ Influencing a public servant by illegal means or personal connections
▪️ Inducing improper or dishonest performance of public duty
▪️ Using corrupt practices to interfere in public administration
📌 This section covers not just bribes, but any undue influence to manipulate official conduct.
🚨 Punishment:
▪️ Imprisonment: 3 to 7 years
▪️ Fine: As imposed by the court
