🧭 Description

In this video, I build and explain a Colpitts oscillator working as a Beat Frequency Oscillator (BFO) for SSB reception.

You’ll see how the LC tank generates the oscillation, how the feedback network sets the frequency and stability, and how to couple the BFO signal to a regular AM radio safely — without direct electrical connection.

This circuit is an essential part of SSB and CW radio receivers and helps you understand the basics of frequency mixing and beat note generation.
