In this video I showcase regular proton versions (5.13-5 and 6.1-GE-1) against the current Proton Experimental.
For Path of Exile in particular, the advances of the Experimental version are clear: the game goes from a barely playable sutterfest to a locked 60 fps!
Notes:
Audio was normalized in video editing because my lootfilter is usually louder than the rest
One would suppose the domain of timeless conflict would eventually load all required assets and keep up, but a few new features on PoE 3.13 cause that effect
Although Proton Experimental works wonders for PoE, it should be tested individually against other games, because the required features are still not stable
If you can't run with the Experimental Proton, try WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=n" %command% as your launch parameter line. It changes the default dxgi compatibility library to the one offered by DXVK.
Game is set to 1080p, 60fps foreground fps lock, no dynamic resolution, dynamic culling On and Vulkan as the graphics API.
A few timestamps for the tests:
00:00 (Short) Tane Metamorph on 6.1-GE-1
00:12 (Short) Tane Metamorph on Experimental
00:23 (Long) Domain of Timeless Conflict on 6.1-GE-1
02:50 (Long) Domain of Timeless Conflict on Experimental
