The first mistake to avoid is to not overlook the MANY benefits of yoga. Yoga improves strength balance and flexibility. It helps with low back pain. It relaxes you. It can help you sleep better-- this can mean more energy and brighter moods. Yoga helps you manage stress. It reduces inflammation in the body. It improves your posture and bone health. It drains your lymphnodes and boosts your immunity. Yoga reduces blood pressure, regulates your adrenal glands, prevents IBS and other digestive issues, and helps you focus! But the thing that I see so many of my students overlook is this vital point: YOGA GIVES YOU AWARENESS OF YOUR BODY– not just that, but also of your mind. It shows you how your body and mind are interlinked and how you control the dials to shift and adjust how your nervous system responds to life.
