Buildings and monuments soar in architectural overdrive, from golden domes to spiralling towers. Sanitised boulevards stretch wide, lined with manicured parks, lavish fountains and grand monuments and sculptures. Ashgabat is a feast for the eyes.
I visited Ashgabat and Turkmenistan in October 2024.
