Kit review: Tristar Fieseler Fi 156 C-3/Trop "Storch" in 1/35 scale

Endlich mal ein Flugzeug im Panzer Maßstab!
Zwar ist Tristar nicht mehr im Geschäft heutzutage, aber es lohnt sich trotzdem mal einen Blick in die noch nicht sehr ferne Vergangenheit zu werfen. Außerdem hat Hobby Boss den fast selben Bausatz auch heute noch im Angebot.
Der Bausatz zeigt sich auf für Tristar typischen hohen Niveau und scheint nicht komplizierter als nötig zu sein. Cockpit und Motor sind voll detailiert und die Klappen können individuell positioniert werden. Selbes gilt auch für die Fahrwerksbeine, die zusätzlich mit Metall-Einlagen verstärkt sind, um das Gewicht des Modells besser tragen zu können. Der große Abziehbilderbogen erlaubt es zahlreiche Maschinen aus der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges und danach zu bauen, darunter deutsche, italienische, französische, tschechoslowakische und polnische Flugzeuge.
Ein Bogen mit vorgeschnittener Maskierfolie ist ebenfalls beinhaltet, was dem Modellbauer viel Arbeit abnehmen kann.
Das alles bekommt man für einen Preis von ca. 30€ (dies gilt auch für den Hobby Boss Bausatz), was ich für sehr fair, geradezu günstig halte.

Finally a plane in the tank scale!
Tristar is no longer in business these days, but it is still worthwile to have a look in the not so distant past. A while ago Hobby Boss has reboxed a very similar version of this kit, so it is still relevant.
The kit presents itself in good quality, which is typical for Tristar, and it does not seem to be more complex than it has to be. The cockpit and engine are fully detailed and the flaps can be positioned individually. Same applies for the landing gear struts, which are also reinforced with metal bars to withstand the weigt of the model. The big decal sheet allows us to build many plans from WW2 and after, serving for Germany, Italy, France, Czechoslovakia and Poland. A sheet with pre-cut maskings for the canopy is also included, which can save the modeller from some extra work.
All of that can be bought for about 30€ (this applies to the Hobby Boss kit as well), which is quite fair, actually pretty cheap, in my opinion.

The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (English: Stork) was a small German liaison aircraft built by Fieseler before and during World War II. Production continued in other countries into the 1950s for the private market. It remains famous for its excellent STOL performance and low stall speed of 31 mph (50 kmph); French-built later variants often appear at air shows.
About 2,900 Fi 156s, mostly Cs, were produced from 1937 to 1945 at the Fieseler Factory in Kassel. In 1942, production started in the Morane-Saulnier factory at Puteaux in France. Due to the demand for Fieseler as a subcontractor for building the Bf 109 and the Fw 190, Storch production was shifted to the Leichtbau Budweis in Budweis in 1943.
