“I headed west to grow up with the country.”

Gram Parsons was a name we had heard for years, mostly from our dear friend and brother, Max. His music finally found its way into our playlist when Ben and I were headed west on a 56 day tour back in 2013. We listened to his entire discography and other projects like The International Submarine Band, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Byrds but mostly his solo projects which always seemed to include Emmylou Harris. Her harmonies, and the ones she chose, are not the typical first harmonies. That drew me to the two of them even more.

I’d love to sit down with her someday to talk about her career and also her time with the late, great Gram Parsons whose light burned out bright and much too soon at the age of 26. The amount of music that he was able to put into the world in such a small amount of time is nothing short of extraordinary. -Emily
