In the second episode of the animated series Journey to the West, titled "Retrieving the Treasure from the Dragon Palace," Sun Wukong sets out to the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace to seek a powerful weapon and treasures to enhance his abilities. Sun Wukong dives into the Eastern Sea and enters the Dragon King's palace, where he meets the Dragon King. Initially reluctant, the Dragon King eventually agrees to show him the treasure vault. Sun Wukong selects the Ruyi Jingu Bang, a magical staff that can change size and has immense weight. He effortlessly wields the staff, astonishing the Dragon King and his subjects. Additionally, Sun Wukong acquires a golden armor and a phoenix-feathered cap, and returns to Mount Huaguo, now equipped as the mighty Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
